About Hotels in Dolmabahce Palace!

Located in Istanbul, Turkey, Dolmabahce Palace is an impressive and magnificent structure that has been standing since 1856. It showcases the grandeur of Ottoman architecture and design, and is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Istanbul. The palace was built by Sultan Abdulmecid I with a combination of European and Ottoman styles, blending the best of both worlds to create an awe-inspiring setting.

At its completion, Dolmabahce Palace was one of the largest royal residences in Europe at the time - measuring nearly 250,000 square meters. The building contains 285 rooms, 46 halls, 6 baths and 68 toilets which were outfitted with gold framed mirrors and marble columns. One of the most stunning features is the gigantic chandelier made from 700 kilos of crystal glass located in the Main Hall. Other notable attractions include a diamond encrusted harem room and a number of lavish gardens spread across 3 kilometers along the Bosphorus Strait.

The palace was used as a residence for many sultans between 1856-1922 until Ataturk moved it to be used for official receptions for foreign dignitaries when Turkey became a republic. Today it continues to serve this purpose while also being open to visitors who can explore 29 interconnected rooms linked by ornately decorated hallways that tell stories about its past inhabitants through historic artifacts on display.
